Blackjack is offered in many casinos all over the world. In fact, if you reside in Asia, you can find that it is also offered in one of the best online casinos in Malaysia as well.
Also known simple as ‘21’, the North American version of the game is quite popular that it is both enjoyed at home or in an actual casino. Although it is still trumped by the slot machine in terms of popularity, it is definitely up there when it comes to the best of the best.
Blackjack is perfect for shy players simply because they are not competing with other players. Instead, they will compete directly with the dealer which will also be the one to hand out the cards to you and execute whatever it is that you want to happen.
The Things that Are Used in the Game
In the original version of the game, blackjack is only played with a standard deck of cards. That means that players will only have to use a total of 52 cards where they can get their pair of cards from.
However, as a measure to prevent card counting, most casinos now use more than one deck and that is the reason why you might see blackjack games that are played with a single, 4-deck, 6-deck, or 8-deck modes.
Aside from the deck of cards, the game (assuming that you are playing in an actual casino) makes use of a table that is covered with felt that has markings on it to indicate certain things such as where players should put their wagers, where dealers would place the cards in front of the player, and so on.
In addition to those things, the dealer will also make use of chips as a means of knowing how much players would want to wager in a single game. There is also a discard tray for all used cards, a cut card, and a box commonly known as the shoe where all of the shuffled cards are placed.
Now, you might wonder why there is a cut card that is used in the game. Well, as mentioned earlier, the game might use multiple decks of cards. The cut card is basically there to help the players know that the dealer is not rigging the game. The dealer also uses that as a sign that the card needs to be reshuffled again.
The Card Values
There is a reason why the game is simply known as ‘21’ and that is because players must be close to or equal to that amount. The players will be given two cards and the values of those cards will be added. The aim is to get as close to the number 21 without going overboard, otherwise, the dealer wins.
The number cards (2-10) retain their numerical value; face cards (J, Q, K) will be equivalent to 10, and the ace cards will either be 1 or 11 (depending on which is better suited for the situation).
